Tsum valley trekking

At the turn of the nineties, the Manaslu region was open to tourism by the Nepalese governement. Before that, the trekkers could make a circuit going from the Arughat village to Besishahar, departure of the Annapurnas circuit. Now, it is possible to make another 6-8 day circuit  in the still remote Tsum valley,  discovering the daily life of a few villages, their religion, the caves where Millarepa lived for a while and at the least two monasteries occupied by monks or nuns, all this dominated by high moutain chains, the  Siring Himal, the Ganesh Himal, the Manaslu raising above  8000m, the Ngadi Chuli, with, in the distance, the Annapurna Himal.

The Tsum valley is inhabited by Buddhists, supposedly originating from Tibet a long time ago. Indeed, at the end of the valley, a pass still allows commercial exchanges with Tibetan people. Tea houses, little familial lodges warmly welcome the tourists with local food. Turning down from the Tsum valley, the trail joins the around the Manaslu trekking trail that leads you to the Larke La (5160m), and then down to meet the around the Annapurna trail allowing a stunning journey.
