Annapurna base camp to Poonhill trek – 12 days

The trek of the Annapurna base camp to Poonhill is a prize trip in Nepal. It is also called the “Annapurna sanctuary trek”. Mind-blowing scenes of two high Himalayan chains, the Annapurna massif and the Dhaulagiri massif, are the most beautiful and attractive points of this destination. Also the trail leads through wonderful and incredible natural landscapes, with a rich variety of plants and animals. This is without mentioning the visit of the charming Gurung settlements of Ghandruk and Landruk, as well as villages of other ethnic groups residing in the area. All with their own customs, cultures, traditions and unique lifestyles. And, cherry on the cake, it brings you to the most panoramic views from the viewpoint of Poonhill (3210m), the most spectacular of the whole Annapurna region. From there, a dozen of striking mountain views are available,  like that of Mt. Annapurna-I (8091m), Mt. Annapurna-II (7937m), Mt. Annapurna-III (7555m), Mt. Annapurna-IV (7525m), Mt. Annapurna South (7229m), Mt. Hiuchuli (6441m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986), Mt. Machhapuchre (6998m), also known as the Holy Mountain,  Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), Mt. Nilgiri (7041m) and many more.The trail takes you on a well-paved route developed in part for trekking, making this destination the ideal trekking destination.

Annapurna Sanctuary or Annapurna Base camp to Poonhill trip starts with a short flight or a long drive to Pokhara. Then, after a short drive to Nayapool, it climbs to the blue-roofed Ghorepani,  in large rhododendron and bamboo forests via Thikhedhunga/Ulleri, where it branches off to Tadapani to take the route of the Machapuchre (3700m) and the Annapurnas (4130m) base camps. In the descent, the route now goes through the Gurung villages, down to Damphus and its terraced walk-hills to finally end in Pokhara agian.
