The Everest region, the legend of Nepal, is located to the North-East of Nepal, in the upper part of the  Solukhumbu district. Mt. Everest (8848m) is the highest mountain in Nepal, among eight peaks reaching more than 8000 meters, and is also the highest mountain in the world. Including the trekking to Mt. Everest, there are many other trekking peaks and high mountains in the region from which mountaineers can have awesome views of the four summits, including Mt. Everest, higher than 8000m, the Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Cho-Oyu (8201m) and Mt. Makalu (8463m). Glacier Family Treks and Expeditions offers challenging treks on the Everest trails. Here, routes start from higher elevation and trekkers stay in higher places for longer time, in this Khumbu region which is said to be the homeland of the Sherpa ethnic group.

The upper part of the region is protected by the Sagarmatha National Park and was designated in 1979 as a world heritage site for its nature and wildlife. The total park area is 1,148  sq.km. Its vegetation changes from fir, juniper, pine, rhododendron, hemlet, birch, and shrubs which are  endangered, to alpine plants growing on bare rocks and snow. Khumbu is also homeland of wildlife like musk deer, choral, tahr, serow, yellow and red-billed, varieties of pheasants and flowers like edelweiss. The Everest – Khumbu region was really graced by Sir Adman Hilary, who made donations for education and health to the local community. Namche Bazaar, Khumjung village, Khunde village, Thame village are major traditional Sherpa villages  of the region. Mani Rimdu, Gyalpo Losar and Saga Dawa festivals are major events for the local people. To have the chance to assist to these festive events in the region, the Tyangboste Monastery (3870m),  the Buddhist temple the highest in the world, is the best place ever to be, as well as the Khumbila Holy mountain.
