Langtang Region Trekking

Langtang valley TrekTrekking in the Langtang region is perfect to cross the high Himalayan holy lake of Goshainkuda (4330m) with the beautiful village and valley of Helambu, the land of Yolmo. The trail passes through the Langtang National Park which is a famous and an important national park  because it is the home for the red panda in Nepal. The Langtang valley is not so far from the Kathmandu valley, situated North of it near the border of Tibet. The Langtang valley trek is dominated by the Mt. Langtang Lirung (7229m).

The trek starts from Sabrubeshi, climbs through the farmland of the Tamangs, local people of Tibetan origin, follows the deep gorge of the Langtang Khola through a rhododendron, oak, alder and maple forest. The higher part of this forest is the home of the red panda, an endangered animal in Nepal. Along the trekking trail, one can see many more birds, animals, and vegetation. In spring time, this trek constitutes an ideal  botanical expedition.

Further above the Langtang village, one can hike up to explore high summits and locations like Kyanjing-Ri, Tserku-Ri, Yala Peak Base camp, Langshisa valley along the glacier of Mt. Langtang Lirung. People living in this area are Tamangs, an ethnic group of Nepal, practicing their own Buddhist religion and herding yaks and naks to earn a better life.
