Peak Climbing

Island Peak Climbing
Peak Climbing in Nepal has been popular ever since Tenzing Norgey Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hilary successfully reached the top of  the Mt. Everest (8,848 m), the highest peaks in the world, in the year 1953. Peak climbing is very challenging and remains the best adventure sport in the world. On the other hand, Nepal remains one of the most popular destination for peak climbing because it is home of eight of the above 8000m high peaks (among the 14  mountains in the world). Besides, there are more than 1,300 mountains above 6,000 m. Out of them, the government has opened some 400 peaks (including Mt. Everest), for climbing purpose and for organizing any kind of adventurous sports, including peak climbing, mountaineering and expedition. There are hardly any country in the world that holds such a number of peaks where you can have these adventurous sports to make your holiday memorable. This is why thousands of tourists come to Nepal for peak climbing.
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is one of the authorized association in Nepal to grant permission to climb certain peaks, while the mountaineering section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation issues the permission for higher mountain climbing. The charges for peak climbing depend on the number of people involved, on the altitude of the mountain you want climb and on the type of sport you want to organize in a particular mountain range. Glacier Family Treks has been organizing various kinds of adventurous peak climbing and mountaineering expeditions on the major peaks in Nepal.
