Lower Dolpo Treks

Situated to the North-West of Nepal, Lower Doplo is a well known camping trek destination. All settlements in the rgion are from Tibetan origin, and therefore the Buddhist culture and lifestyle dominate, mixed in  with a culture pre-exisitng Buddhism influenced by the Bön religion. Then Buddhist monasteries and hidden valleys have been waiting for explorers since a longtime. Apart from its particular famous Tibetan culture, some major points of interest concern medicinal herbal plants, black rocky hills and white snowcapped mountains.

The trip starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj in the far South-West, close to the Indian border, and from there, a second flight  brings you to Juphal. The trek starts then by a walk to Dunai, head quarter of the Dolpo province. It then goes up the Tharap valley, crossing some villages like Tarakot and Do Taraph. From there, the trail brings you through  the adventurous passes of Numala and Bagala down to Phoksundo Lake through the Shey Phoksundo National Park.
