La région des Annapurnas est considérée comme la deuxième destination de trek la plus demandée au Népal. Elle est située en gros au nord du pays, dans sa partie centrale, au centre-nord également de la vallée de Katmandou. Dans les années 2000, cette région a été évaluée pour sa flore et sa faune comme faisant partie des 10 destinations touristiques les plus prisées au monde. Comme dans cette région les lodges sont nombreuses et de bonne qualité, les treks y sont vraiment avenants. Dans le but de protéger l’environnement et son écosystème, le Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) est actif dans la région depuis 1986. L’ACAP protège des fleurs comme le rhododendron, qui est la fleur nationale du Népal, des variétés d’orchidées, plusieurs espèces d’oiseaux et d’animaux en danger de disparition, et bien sûr le milieu naturel et ses beautés. Ce projet de protection est le premier qui a été établi au Népal.
Ainsi, le voyageur va pouvoir découvrir certaines espèces menacées. Mais ce n’est bien sûr pas le seul attrait de la région. Il sera estomaqué par la majesté de la chaîne des Annapurnas aux sommets imposant comme les Mt. Annapurna-I (8091m), Mt. Annapurna-II (7937m), Mt. Annapurna-III (7555m), Mt. Annapurna-IV (7525m), Mt. Annapurna Sud (7229m), Mt. Hiuchuli (6441m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986), Mt. Machhapuchre (6998m), la montagne sacrée, Mt. Nilgiri (7041m), le Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) en face, le Mt. Manaslu (8163m) plus loin à l’est et bien d’autres encore.
